A Conversation with Rupert Wainwright in Athens
A few days ago, I had the unexpected pleasure of meeting director Rupert Wainwright in Athens.
Rupert was visiting Greece for another project when his team reached out to me. They were interested in connecting with Greek artists working with AI, and that message turned into a chance to meet and talk in person. I still find that a little incredible.
Rupert has directed films including Stigmata, The Fog, and Blank Check, as well as work across television, music videos, and advertising. I was excited to meet someone with that range of experience, and even more pleased by how approachable and enjoyable he was to talk to.
We exchanged thoughts on how AI is changing filmmaking, the creative possibilities it opens up, and the questions artists and directors are facing as these tools develop. We also discussed areas where our work could potentially connect. There are no announcements to make, but I’m glad we had the chance to share ideas and get to know each other.
We took a few photos together afterwards, with the Acropolis behind us. It was a lovely way to remember a meeting I hadn’t expected and won’t forget.
