The Quiet Gaze: Sharing Photography at Evichi Poli 2025
A few days after the closing of Evichi Poli 2025, I’m happy to share some photographs from my participation in “The Quiet Gaze (Through a Silent Lens)”, the outdoor exhibition organised by the Veria photography group Antithesis.
From 19 to 22 June, the exhibition brought photography into four public spaces across the city: Agioi Anargyroi Park, Elia Park, the Courthouse Square by the clock, and the Jewish Memorials. Being part of a collective presentation within Veria’s cultural celebrations made this a meaningful experience for me.
Having joined Antithesis earlier this year, I appreciated the opportunity to exhibit alongside fellow members and contribute to something we shared as a group. Seeing different photographic perspectives come together was also a reminder of how much there is to learn through participation, conversation and looking closely at each other’s work.
Photography is part of the broader creative practice I’m developing through Ennoia. Alongside digital art, collage, moving images and experimentation with AI tools, it gives me a way to work directly with the world around me. Light, framing and the choice of a moment all require attention, and those decisions continue to influence how I approach images in other media.
I’m interested in how these practices inform one another. Experience with a camera can sharpen the judgement I bring to an AI-assisted image: how I assess a composition, notice a distracting detail, or decide whether an image communicates what I intended. Experimenting digitally, in turn, can prompt me to look for different possibilities when photographing. Moving between media keeps that exchange open.
The exhibition also gave me a way to participate more actively in the cultural life of my own city. Sharing work in public spaces brings it into everyday surroundings and makes an encounter with photography possible beyond a gallery setting. I’m glad to have contributed to that effort alongside the other members of Antithesis.
